No, this definitely isn’t me…my hair is gray! It isn’t anybody I know, but it could be. Yes, wedding bells will be ringing in our family in the next few years. Our oldest (21) became engaged after Christmas. It came as no surprise and Dad and I like him. Being the smart girl she is, she wants to wait until she finishes her nursing education (which she just started). Of course, nothing is written in stone as the old saying goes. It’s been fun looking at gowns, flowers, silver, crystal and all the goodies.
Don’t get me wrong, she hasn’t always had her head on straight. We’ve been through a lot but it’s not my place to share that on my blog. Suffice it to say, we are very proud of her and the decisions she’s now making.
Her wedding will be extremely different from ours if she continues as planned. Our wedding was not at all traditional. Dad and I had a “happening” as it’s been called. We got married in a field, the guests being brought in on a hay wagon. Afterward we had a “pot luck” reception to which everyone brought a covered dish–we were the proverbial poor church mice. Even though it was almost 23 years ago, I imagine everyone still remembers.
One of the hardest parts for me will be keeping my preferences to myself unless she asks. Stay tuned for further updates!
